Jonathan Swift

In a Modest Proposal, Jonathan Swift came up with an idea to save his country from poverty by eating children. The article shows many benefits for the country of Ireland. Some of the benefits that he came up with for the solution are; popluation control, helping the poor finacially, restore the economy, bringing a new exotic dish to the country, and more local business. He not only wants to use children for food, but also clothing. In part of his writings he compares the children to other animals. Through out the proposal he came up with many other reasons why this could bring Ireland out of poverty, but is eating children really okay?

In responds to Jonathans proposal of eating children to save Ireland is in a way disagreeable and agreeable. Obviously something needs to be done to save Ireland, but eating children is not the answer because it is unethical. Eating children in a way is like killing innocent people for no reason. You just aren't suppose to do it, so why should we take innocent childrens lives?
