Worst Job

I have only done this a couple times but I can honestly say that it sucks. My boyfriends dad is a farmer and he had asked me to help pick rock. I needed the money so I was all for it. It was about a 90 degrees the first day and when I drove out to the field and saw that it was never ending, I knew that this was not going to be a fun day. So Tim (my bofriend) and I picked the stupid rocks up while his dad Larry got to sit in the tractor and drive it along while we picked up rocks that were atleast the size of a half sheet of paper. I don't think I have ever been that thirsty in my whole life. It seemed that I was drinking water every minuete. By the end of the day I was seriously full of dirt from head to toe and couldn't wait to take a shower! Even though the job pretty much sucked there was three good things about the day. First I got an excellent tan. Second we went into town for lunch at the local bar, which has the best food in the world. The burgers are huge! And thirdly I got paid pretty good. I'm not sure if it was just because it was my boyfriends dad or what but it was pretty awesome. I do plan on picking rock once again this summer if I don't have a full time job which I am hoping to get.

Worst Teacher I Have Ever Had

Its my freshman year of college. Trying to get adjusted to this new lifestyle is not the easiest thing in the world do to. Infact I found it quit challenging. Or atleast this one lady made it unbearable. I remember when I had registered for the class I thought I would be okay taking it because I had taken it my senior year of high school and did fairly well in it. The class that I had signed up to take was Economics 100. The class was an alright class but the teacher that I had signed up to take it with was absolutly misearable. I don't know her name because I can't even pronounce it. She was from some foreign country and sitting through class was a huge struggle. I believe on the first day of class while she was going over the syllabus I could make out a couple of her words and I "think" she said that it was her first year teaching. This just added fuel to the fire. We had no homework in the class and many students were unable to take notes because she would go through the power points a million miles per hour. When our first test came around I got a 70 and from there they did not get better but only worse which was really odd considering I would study more and more for each exam. I had even went to talk to her 3 times but nothing seemed to help. I think that there are just some people in the world that shouldn't be teachers and she is one of them. Everyone in the class would complain about her and it seemed as if everyone hated her as much as I did. Lets just say that I did not get a good grade in the class and I will have to eventually retake the class. This time I will choose more wisely and probably go on ratemyprofessor.com to check whose a good professor and who is not.

Most Interesting Family Member

This man in my life I would not consider interesting but different and even sometimes scary. He is very short and sickly skinny. He already has a receding hairline and is forming a small bald circle on the top of his head. He didn't finish highschool but instead took a wickedly horrible path which almost led him to death. Before he took that path he was smart and very good at art. But he has always been lazy and gotten into trouble many times in his life The man that i'm talking about is my oldest brother Nathan who is now 25, married, and has a daughter named Erikka who is 2. When he was younger he was a drug dealer and a drug addict. Me and him....argue a lot, haven't gotten a long for a very long time and probably never will again. I hold a lot of sistuations against him because of his drug problems that he had when he was younger. I was at the age to not quit understand everything that my parents and him were going through at the time. I was about 10 years old and hardly new what a drug even was, let alone how it affects a person. When I think back to those days the only thing that sticks in my mind was how much my parents would argue about Nathan. My parents and our whole family struggled for about 4 years with his problems. The problems we went through seemed be getting worse and not better. He was in and out of treatments all the time but always would end up back on the streets. Nathan now has really cleaned up his life a lot. He has a family and has been drug free for about 3 to 4 years. He is not the same brother that I had before his drug addiction nor will he never will be. That whole chapter in his life ruined what he was.

Most Interesting Person I know

The person that is the most intersting that I know is my dad. I am just like him. He is my best friend, caring, and hilarious. The day I had to move out for college was one of the hardest days of my life.

I had been getting packed and getting things situated for a bout a month before I had to leave. I was so excited to get out of our small little hick town and be out on my own, be able to do what I wanted, whenever I wanted. The one thing that I didn't realize was how much I would miss my dad. Me and my dad have always had this certain connection with eachother that my mom is really annoyed about. I think its because the only thing that my mom and I used to do was argue. It is finally the day I had been wating for. That morning on our drive up to Mankato, with my parents in the truck ahead of me, gave me a lot of time to just drive and think about things. It made me realize that a new chapter in my life was about to begin. After getting unpacked and everything it was really hard to say goodbye to my dad with tears strolling down my face. It was really hard to start up that new chapter in my life with out my parents, especially my dad always being with me through everything. Little did I know was how much I would be returning to that small town that I once hated so much. I realized that Brewster was a place that I will always love. My dad and I's relationship is still very strong if not stronger.

-what is the problem being discussed?
Condolezza Rice was being protested against. She had spoken at a graduation and everyone seemed to be outraged in which sparked a protest.

What is each speakers position and argument? Hannity is the main speaker and his position was liberal vs conservative, Almend's position is that he is a liberal and is also the one being interviewed based on the initial problem, inwhich he is against the issue. Colmes position is that he questions Almends response.

Do any of the speakers move away from the issue at hand?
-cite examples (write what question was/answer/analogies)
Yes, Hennity asks Almend about his voting record. Almend also avoids a new question being asked and tries to go back to the original question. Colmes proposes a possible solution.

Do any of the seapkers employ logical fallacies?(which ones) Party association based on likes and dislike somewhat employed a logical falacie. Steve Almend was attacked by Hannity which makes another logical fallacie.

Identify who steve almend is and what his level of authority is on this topic.
Steve Almend is a guest on the news show being broadcasted. He was a professor at Boston college and is also a writer. It is pretty obvious that he did not have that much authority on the topic because the other men would somewhat talk over him. Showing that his answers or inputs didn't matter.

Was this an effective argument? Why or why not? No, because there are many sides of the argument and get off topic of the argument. The argument seemed to be all over the place.

Jonathan Swift

In a Modest Proposal, Jonathan Swift came up with an idea to save his country from poverty by eating children. The article shows many benefits for the country of Ireland. Some of the benefits that he came up with for the solution are; popluation control, helping the poor finacially, restore the economy, bringing a new exotic dish to the country, and more local business. He not only wants to use children for food, but also clothing. In part of his writings he compares the children to other animals. Through out the proposal he came up with many other reasons why this could bring Ireland out of poverty, but is eating children really okay?

In responds to Jonathans proposal of eating children to save Ireland is in a way disagreeable and agreeable. Obviously something needs to be done to save Ireland, but eating children is not the answer because it is unethical. Eating children in a way is like killing innocent people for no reason. You just aren't suppose to do it, so why should we take innocent childrens lives?

First Post

Having read the syllabus for English 101 composition I feel that this class will be somewhat easy for me. My senior year in high school I had taken an English class that I feel has prepared me for this level of English. We wrote papers constantly and did a couple research papers.
Writing is also one of my strong points when it comes to school. It just comes naturally to me so with that said I feel pretty confident about this class and feel that I will do well in it. Also, with reading the syllabus I get the vibe that it will be a more laid back class which insures me to be more confident with my writing and learning.
